Sister Ports International Exchange between Oakland and Yokohama

On 13 March 2023, Port of Yokohama held the meeting with Port of Oakland, sister port, at the California-Japan Climate Summit. Port of Oakland visited Japan as a member of the California trade mission.

We celebrated 40th anniversary of sister ports between Oakland and Yokohama in 2020. Unfortunately, we postponed in-person interaction due to the coronavirus pandemic. This time, we held the meeting with Mr. Andreas Cluver, Commissioner of the Board of port commissioners and Mr. Danny Wan, Executive Director of the Port of Oakland, and exchanged opinions regarding the initiatives of sister ports. Port of Yokohama presented the commemorative gift (the original designed plaque) to Port of Oakland to celebrate our long-standing sister ports ties.

In addition, representatives of two ports were served as panelists during the panel session at the California-Japan Climate Summit.
